Principal Contractor/Building Services - Principal Contractors

Supply Chain Coordination

Supply Chain Coordination is the Principal Contractor’s role in organising and managing all parties involved in delivering work on site, from subcontractors to specialist suppliers, so that the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the required standard. For AP Mitchell, this involves aligning discipline-specific teams (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire & security) and external partners into an integrated delivery structure.

Integrated Delivery with Years of In-House Expertise

We bring multiple building services disciplines under one organisational umbrella, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire & security services. This means they do not rely solely on fragmented external suppliers; instead, they coordinate internal and external resources centrally, improving reliability and communication across the supply chain.

Why this matters:

  • Reduces risks associated with subcontractor hand-offs.

  • Streamlines scheduling and sequencing across trades.

  • Strengthens quality and compliance controls.

Project Ownership Taken Seriously

We take on full responsibility as Principal Contractor for planning, coordination, health & safety and delivery. This explicitly includes the management of supply chain relationships and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, not just procuring packages but coordinating their execution on site.

This coordination includes:

  • Ensuring subcontractors understand programme requirements.

  • Aligning resourcing with site management plans.

  • Integrating specialist suppliers into broader project sequences.

Consistent Standards and Documentation and Long-Term Client and Partner Relationships

Stellar testimonials from our clients highlight efficient processes and strong documentation practices (e.g., risk assessments and method statements). Proper documentation is a core element of coordinating supply chain activities safely and consistently, ensuring subcontractors work to agreed standards and reducing disputes or delays.

Why this matters:

  • High-quality documentation supports clarity in expectations.

  • Improves regulatory and contractual compliance across all parties.

  • Reduces rework, misunderstandings, and programme slippage.

We work repeatedly with clients such as Equans, Travis Perkins and others across multiple projects, which indicates trust and continuity in how they coordinate supply chains. Long-term relationships often arise when supply chain interfaces (logistics, materials, subcontracted works) are managed reliably and that is something we are proud to do.

What out clients tell us

Fantastic and helpful staff. They arrived as soon as they could and worked on the problem solidly for five and a half hours. Their dedication and customer service were exceptional and without their persistence, we could easily have been left with no heating at all. Thanks to their skills and expertise we now have heating in the church. We have an important service next week. It's the funeral of the former vicar who was with us up until about 3 years ago and served the church for over 20 years. There will be dozens of people there and representatives from different organisations there to celebrate and pay tribute to his life and service. It would have been a crushing disappointment not to have any heating for this important event, so it is with a huge debt of thanks that we owe to the team who ensured that we had heating back for this special day.
